Tourist Brand Costa de Barcelona-Maresme

Between the sea and mountain chains is Costa de Barcelona-Maresme, an area that conserves a surprising mountain landscape, with outstanding parks— El Montnegre i el Corredor, Serralada Litoral and Serralada de Marina—next to the Mediterranean Sea, where Alella DO wine is produced. The region was the summer home of Barcelona’s middle class at the turn of the twentieth century, hence its interesting examples of Catalan Art Nouveau architecture, particularly in Canet de Mar, Mataró and Argentona. A singular feature is the large number of museums found here, some of them dedicated to curious subjects, such as lace making, earthenware jugs, nativity scenes, molluscs and pharmacy. Cultural festivals, music festivals, craft fairs, local festivals and numerous gastronomy events are just some of the many other attractions of the region.
