Half-way between the mountains and the plain, the Llobregat River Park, crossed by the river that gives it its name, is a land full of churches, monasteries, castles, shrines and an important series of textile colonies built along the river. These industrial constructions, of the greatest architectural and town planning value in Catalonia, date from the mid-nineteenth century, and you can visit them on foot or by bicycle on a signposted trail that starts at the foot of the Gothic bridge in Pedret. The Colònia Vidal Museum recreates the industrial social and cultural activity of a century ago, and the Torre de l’Amo—literally, the master’s tower—in Viladomiu Nou was built in 1902 and houses an interpretation centre. Along with an industrial past, this tourist area lives its festivals through traditions such the festival of Patum de Berga, a meeting point for religion, theatre, music and fire.
